The New Jersey market has many existing Rooftop Multizone Units that are old, inefficient, and in need of replacing. While most newer buildings are being designed with variable air volume (VAV) systems, when retrofitting a building with a rooftop multizone unit, there are significant benefits to using a direct replacement triple-deck VAV unit versus installing a standard VAV system from the ground up.
Installing a direct replacement multizone unit requires:

Triple Deck Multizone VAV Unit
Consists of a cold deck, a bypass deck, and a heating deck, allowing for simultaneous heating and cooling without mixing the heated and cooled air.
Includes a variable speed drive blower (VSD). As a zone becomes satisfied and the zone damper begins to modulate from the hot or cold deck to the bypass deck, the pressure in the supply blower plenum begins to rise. In response to the rise in the pressure, the VSD slows the blower to maintain a set static pressure in the blower plenum, reducing the energy being consumed by the fan and the coils.
